Patent plate question

Post by Rich P. Bingham » Thu Oct 26, 2023 5:21 pm

Did the earlier brass patent plates have a black background for the embossed characters the way later aluminum plates were ?

They certainly had a dark background. The original 1913 plate I have shows this. It is thin in places, and you can see the brass through it, but that is most likely an age thing.
