What is the best and strongest way to secure a fitting to both ends of a length of stainless steel braided hose that will be used for water and/or oil. Can you recommend the necessary parts (ferrules or clamps) and tools to accomplish this? Please be as economical as possible. Thank you. Jim Patrick

Re: Making strong flexible braided hoses
Jim, This method is the way I have made hoses for many many, years. Good Luck.

You will have to find the fittings to fit your needs. Generally, you have a "collar" that goes on the hose end, then the fitting that threads into the collar with a tapered end inside the hose. I have seen radiator hose collars that just hide the hose end with a hose clamp inside the collar to tighten on the hose as you would normally have.

Re: Making strong flexible braided hoses
Where i work (Aircraft maintenance) we use a.e.r.o. hose shop and like their work. Im new to the Aircraft maintenance industry, and i dont know if they do car hoses, or just aircraft stuff, but we just got a shipment of stainless steel braided hoses from them yesterday, what a coincidence...
***Now i dont know if the fittings would be the same, and if they are even compatible.***
Just my 2 cents worth

Any hydrolic shop can secure the fittings for you. Do a web search, or ask a farmer for one in your area.

Hi James,
The recomendations are great for high pressure requirements. If for low pressure as in model T apllications try Speedway Motors they have a
good selection of clamps for all aplications.
Craig.
