Wanted: Brass era licence plate / tail light bracket like Neverout
I'm looking for a period accessory license plate / tail light bracket for our big 1908 Welch touring car. Patent dates may go later.
Anything like the brass Neverout or other period examples would compliment the car. Example on an EMF shown.

the original Neverout brackets were forged or cast iron, I never have seen a brass one.

A forging, I was able to bend mine. It was not a Neverout but one that attached to the Ford bracket.

They turn up on Ebay occasionally. I bought a NOS stock one there a few years ago.

Re: Wanted: Brass era licence plate / tail light bracket like Neverout
Neverouts were made in brass and iron, original brass ones are very tough to find. I have never seen one for sale off of a car. The brass originals that I have seen have all had round tapered tail lamp posts rather than a blade style. Originals also had patent dates stamped into the brass in addition to the raised lettering in the casting. Other than those differences the reproductions are very good, and a lot easier to get unless or until you stumble across an original. Iron originals still turn up fairly often, but they seem to have increased in value recently.

Thanks for the offer Larry I’d take it if it had the post and not spade attachment.

Harry,
The bracket is designed for use with either the post or spade.
Attached is an additional photo of the bracket.

The receiver on the Neverout brackets were designed so they could mounted on either a round or spade post as indicate above.
However, there were two basic styles as far as the post on the Neverout bracket itself is concerned - round or spade.

Eric,
If I understand Harry correctly, He was concerned about the receiver and this bracket would work for the spade or post. The picture you posted shows the spade and post for hanging the light. The picture Harry posted has a light that would use the spade and not the post.
