Transmission Band Lining
Came across this picture of questionable material used for band lining...... Woven textile, kevlar, wood, modern auto trans molded ???????

Pretty sure it ain't Kevlar. I'm voting for wood even tho I've never had any experience with wood bands

Looks like there might be a faint glimmer of a few copper strands… that would make this Model A brake lining. Word on the street is this stuff is hard on drums. Others may have personal experience…

Looks like caterpillar band lining material that was popular in the 1970's.

With what appear to be angled saw cuts on the edge, I would guess it is an oil soaked wood band. I don’t think such saw cuts would exist in softer band material. Also, the lack threads or frays indicate it is not any kind of woven material.

I ran some of that hard bonded lining back in the 60's. Its was hard on the drums. I changed to Kevlar when it came out. I still have the set up on a shelf. I have not had success removing the bonded stuff from the bands.

You can probably get a pan big enough to hold all three bands and get a gallon of strong solvent such as MEK, Acetone, or Xylene and pour it over the bands and just let them sit until the linings fall off. Covering the pan to make it as air tight as possible would slow the evaporation of the solvent.
