under front seat cardboard replacement

Post by NU2theT » Sun Jul 07, 2024 3:08 pm

So filling up today noted the cardboard pieces are pretty well spent and would like to replace them. This is a 26 Fordor and mine are in two pieces (picture 3).

Putting them together as when under the seats the width is approx 16 3/4" and the length is approx 31 1/4". I did not see replacements for these in the various auto parts catalogs I have, any measurements would be great, thanks in advance.

Since you have your gas tank under the front seat, you have two spring cushions to sit on with two separate "springboards ". I do not have the dimensions in my records, but I did replace those boards using what was left as a template, instead of replacing with cardboard. I did use 1/8 inch plywood.

My 1923 touring came to me with two pieces of cardboard under the front seat. After 45 years, the cardboard pieces were worn out and were replaced with a single piece of 1/8 inch thick plywood. Cleats were added to maintain proper positioning so that the cushion goes in its proper place.
