Re: Swept away.
Wow, so many interesting cars and people. Looks like a Livingston V type radiator on the fire engine.

Re: Swept away.
Once again; nearly all pre ‘23 open Model Ts are pictured with their upper windshields folded down. This tells me folks drove much, much slower then than we do now. Granted, roads are exponentially better nowdays but so many organized tours are led out at 40 + MPH. Wonderful pictures Tom. My nostalgia need is satiated. Thanks

Re: Swept away.
You sure have a large selection of pictures, and most are from the days when those cars were new. Remember also that most people were familiar with riding horses or being in a buggy pulled by horses, so they are used to having the wind in their faces, and the car likely got a bit better gas mileage with the top down and the windshield folded down. So if it is not raining or snowing, you wouldn't be used to having a top or windshield. And with the type roads they drove on, probably very unlikely to go over 20 mph, so unless it was a very windy day, it would be like going outside for a walk today. Even when I was a boy in the 1930's and 40's most people drove much slower than today. I remember when they built the first "freeway" in the Los Angeles called the Arroyo Seco Parkway from Los Angeles to Pasadena. My dad was driving an almost new 1936 Ford V8 He told mom he was going 45 MPH. I noticed the speedometer went higher than that and I said "Why don't you go 70?" If my mom had been wearing dentures, they would have fallen out and she said, "No one will ever drive that fast!" She lived long enough to have gone that fast most of the way from California to British Columbia.

Hi Tom,
Thank you for posting all of the photos you do. Really enjoy them. Is the # 3 pic just after a tornado?
Craig.
