Partially sunk in ground and weeds at an old home site due for demolition. I hate to see this go to the scrap yard but am not able to do anything with it. Saugus is only a 45 minute drive for me. How long do we have before this turns into a pumpkin? And what is the engine with the huge flywheel behind it out of, that's buried almost up to the head? Thanks for posting this.

Here’s a close up. The 3rd picture does look like the”flywheel” is connected possibly to the engine may be for a sawmill???

That huge flywheel you refer to may be the top of a passenger-side rear fender.

I could be totally wrong, but the buried engine looks like a W-5 Durant or Star. 1920s. Hope someone saves this stuff. I'm too far.

To me the buried power plant looks like an aux motor and transmission powering a belt pulley. Who knows

Not sure how long it will last, already have a guy coming to look and take the whole thing. Don't know what the buried engine is and don't think the drum and engine are attached. My brother is going to check it out for me, he lives nearby. I'm in Idaho, will let you know.

I once pulled a TT Ruckstel axle that was half buried in the middle of a muddy foul pig pen on a farm in Merced CA....ya....I wanted it bad enough to endure wading in THAT. After disassembly it was in surprisingly good shape!
Ya never really know what ya might be able to dig up! I'd love to do a dig on that engine.
My Uncle in Redding CA found an old Johnny popper half buried on his farm...we dug it up, and he eventually was able to restore it and get it running churning a huge White Mountain 10 gallon ice cream freezer for gatherings.

Greetings all and thanks for your interest. Looks like I have a fellow willing to tackle the job and save this bit of treasure. It won't be easy. Will let you all know if it doesn't pan out.
I now have a better photo of the mystery engine buried next to this TT. It has a date tag cast into it of 2-9-25. There is no big pulley attached to it as some thought might be the case.

The buried engine looks to me like it's from a Durant Star from the mid-1920's. So, sadly, it's not particularly rare or desirable, but if someone needs parts, the dry alluvial soil its buried in acts as a preservative. It will be a lot easier to find someone interested in the TT.

Greetings all you good folks. The TT chassis and buried engine have been rescued and will be taken good care of. I have attached a couple of photos. Turns out that there was a large flat belt pulley attached to the buried engine (date on engine, 2-9-25). And the TT had other goodies buried under the dirt. It took a good 5 hours but I am pleased that we were able to save these treasures. Thank you!
