Pikes Peak Model T trip video

Post by Moxie26 » Sun Oct 06, 2024 12:13 pm

https://youtu.be/eT-oLDee-as?si=RQ4AUzITUjAXMoOd. The answer is these two have useful tips. They need to be aware of going downhill with retarded spark and not using the parking brake to slow down as much, disconnecting the engine losing the transmission brake.

I watched the entire video. Brought back white-knuckle memories of 1976 in my ‘23 touring with a Ruckstell. I never would’ve thought of checking the 2 petcock oil level WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING tho’…..Hated those switchbacks too

The first few vids I watched I rolled my eyes thinking "REALLY"?? at some of their ignorance...thinking if meant to be educational they weren't doing a good job.

But then I reconsidered....we were all there once, and certainly 100 years ago everyone was grappling trying to understand these new fangled contraptions.

But in the end, we should all revel in the fact that there is young blood not only interested in T's, but actively going out & having fun with them!!! All that they're doing is nothing short of keeping these babies rolling into new generations. Kudo's!!

Knowing that Daisy drove from MI to CO to attend the inaugural PP Race in '16, this video is simply a vicarious view imagining what the original owner experienced driving Daisy up the mountain then...in way worse conditions than these guys had now. Fun!!
Call me anything you want...just so long as it isn't "late for dinner"

Thanks for the link, enjoyed every minute of it with the exception of some of the cringe worthy starting with the advance pulled down too far and checking the oil with the engine running. Really though 2 thumbs up!!!

Best John
