Horn button repair parts
I don't know if I am thinking things that didn't happen or what but I am wanting to replace the bakelite parts in a horn button that clamps the steering column and I think I bought the parts from a vendor at some point in history but now all I can find is complete units. Are the repair parts no longer available separate? This the button and the piece that the bolt goes thru with the wire screws and push down copper contacts.

I think Larry Smith was making those at one time. But not sure. Dan

The buttons were/are available but I had not seen the contact piece ever available.

Re: Horn button repair parts
The only contact piece for the horn buttons I’ve found are the ones I’ve found on the steering columns I picked up with other T rusted up parts I’ve run across and in the boxes of old car parts at swap meets. That was several years ago. Not sure if they are getting more scarce but with lots of T parts until the suppliers make a good contact it will be where you find one. The buttons you can make with a piece of round wood that’s close to the correct diameter like a hoe or broom handle.

Re: Horn button repair parts
Well my trip to the mountains to get the remnants of a home built tractor yielded a complete horn button which looks good, but I am hoping to reuse the metal part that is original to the car as it was when i got it

The fellow I got the tractor from has a huge stock of old parts and really cool TT's and T's with formatruck kits, a Hemco conversion and so on. I have to go up there once in a while just to enjoy the collection
