1925 roadster pickup bed details needed
Hello Folks,
Im beginning restoration on my 1925 roadster pickup project truck. Hoping to get on the road by 100th birthday! I know there are some real experts out not the least of which is Larry Smith out in california. I have some issues I'm beginning to address on the bed dimensions. The front of my bed has some damage that I must repair. I have some rust, broken rivet joins etc. But the worst of the issues are that somebody (I won't use any more specific terms) in their wisdom at some time in its history hammered the bump out for the battery access flat at the front of the bed. all of the other issues are very repairable but with this damage I have lost the specific dimensions of that bump out.
Does anyone out there with a 1925 truck have the bump out dimensions for the front of the bed, specifically the bottom dimension of the bump out. Ive searched but have yet to find this info. Any diagrams or just the measurements would be most helpful.
Thanks so much to anyone that can help. This forum is fantastic and the wisdom here is immense.

It's too cold to go out into the garage this morning, but off the top of my head the bottom goes forward about 1 inch, far less than a 1926.

Don't be a sissy Larry, we don't even know what cold is compared to the rest of the country.

Last December I had to decide whether the next stop in my recovery would be in the Dallas area, or Lomita. I thought California weather would make Lomita the better choice. It wasn't. As it turned out, Richardson was warmer.
The inevitable often happens.

Re: 1925 roadster pickup bed details needed
Thanks Sir! I had assumed (you know how dangerous that is) that the 26-27 beds had a larger bump out from the pictures Ive seen but wasn't sure. Haven't found good enough pictures of the 1925's to determine that part. Mine is so mangled in that one area that it could be from .75" to 1.25" due to the possibility of the metal stretching there. The lines of the bend are still present at the top so the width and location are known but the space available due to the curve of the tub makes it impossible to determine from that. Appreciate any and all help!

We are still trying to determine if working-hammering-dollying the metal back to its original shape or cutting and welding/fabricating that area is the best route to go. Knowing the exact dimension will be critical.

I just checked my car, and it's not in the sunlight either, but it looks closer to 1/2"

Re: 1925 roadster pickup bed details needed
Thanks guys for the help. We split/cut the forward crease, hammered the triangular section over and welded it all back together. After cutting the crease and making the bends it was around the 5/8" mark at the bottom of the bed. When pulling the bottom of the bed back together to weld all the measurements lined up perfectly on the bottom rails for the full length of the bed. I believe we are spot on for the original configuration. Thanks so much for the help and advise.
