Most American built collector cars in Europe had to be imported to Europe in the past half a century. The Europeans had to pay the American price, then pay a large amount for shipping. They also usually had to pay a huge "value added" or other some sort of import tax. Europeans are used to the fact that they must pay a premium cost to have desirable American collector cars. Just the way it is. So, once an American collector car has gone to Europe, unless it was a long time ago when all those prices were mush lower? Those American collector cars very rarely come back to here. Someone in this country can choose from many comparable cars that are still here, and the sellers here do not hope to recoup all those other excessive fees the Europeans had to pay. Ninety-nine percent of the time, a seller in Europe can find a buyer in Europe that will pay the higher price rather than buy a car for less in America just so they can pay all those additional costs to transport it to Europe.
It is a tough reality. Even as our world moves to a more world based economy, there will always be inequalities that cause some peoples to have to pay higher prices for some things than do other peoples. And often, those inequalities will result in something like a car being worth too much in one corner of the world for it to be sold and shipped to some other corner of the world.
That is a beautiful example of a first year production model T Ford! Any serious model T collector anywhere in the world would love to have it! It may even be worth the costs to have it shipped to Japan or China, where many uberwealthy new world order collectors are filling private museums. However coming back to America? Not likely unless the seller is willing to take a big loss on what was previously spent.

I sold my 81 Corvette to a guy in Wales. Shipping, taxes, and UK turn signal conversion was $1800.
Now the Nederlands is a different story. Their import tax is 100% of sale value. A C8 Corvette costs them $200,000.
I know because two friends are Shell Chem engineers there.

Agree, that is a high price for just a good early T. Many features aren't for an early #2505, built in May 1909 T.
The runabouts in May 1909 should be gray color. After late June the Green became std. The radiator isn't an early McCord, as those don't have the Ford patented reinforcing bars like this T has. Crank handle should be dark hard plastic like material, unlike the later aluminum one.
And the block on this T has Ford script, something that came later. Exhaust manifold is later, the oil breather cap is wrong, should be plain open type. Missing engine pans. Cylinder head should have the raised bosses on the edge. Lacking stem covers and proper stems on the tires. Can't see any paint striping, should be there and on the axles too.
The ugly is the long rubber hose instead of the water pipe for the inlet, and that stainless steel hose clamp.

Interesting! Several members or our club have actually had cars shipped to Europe for a tour and then shipped back to California. I have only been a member for about 30 years so maybe this happened about 10 years ago or more.

Anyone want to comment about the Red felt headliner? Was that Touring only, -or could it have been found on Roadsters too??
