Electric cowl light for T?

Post by fordrelic » Sun Feb 16, 2025 2:10 pm

This is a first for me, but it looks like an electric cowl light for T?
I think it will bolt up to the oil lamp bracket.
What's your thoughts?

Yes, that is what it is. Similar lamps were made for use on other cars, but with the shape and positioning bumps where they are, these were made specifically for the model T to replace the factory oil sidelamps.
They were not a very popular accessory considering that they only really fit the cheaper non-"electric" model Ts, which were mostly owned by people not willing to spend the extra dollars for the starter in the first place. For that reason, there are not a lot of them around to be seen today, and era photos of them are somewhat unusual, although they can be found.

And U.S. accessory - I've had several sets & they bolt right on BUT you have to run the wire somewhere !

Here is that type of accessory electric side lamp to fit Ford kerosene cowl lamp brackets.

Thank you so very much Dan T for sharing images from your collection of era advertising!
It always helps a lot to put accessories into their perspective.
