More Duncan Swap Meet photos
Here are my photos from Duncan. I did not get many photos but enough to give a decent idea. I was very satisfied with the swap meet. Especially since it was the first year of the move of the old Chickasha meet. I saw a large portion of the old vendors and shoppers. Also saw new faces and shoppers I've not seen before. I think Kevin and the Duncan swap meet crew did a very good job of fitting us into an existing swap meet. There were a few little issues, but they handled them very quickly. The pre-war section is somewhat split up to two locations. (Inside/heated, and unheated covered/outside) But I do not think it involves anymore walking than Chickasha did. All the buildings lay in a straight line and are all connected. You do not need to go outside except for the outside parking lot spaces. I think a lot of the outside pre-war vendors may move into the covered spaces next year. That style of spaces was not an option at Chickasha. I talked to several outside vendors who said they would move inside the covered spaces now that they know what they are like. I will post a photo of next year's brochure that has the dates and prices of next year's swap meet.
There is a photo of an 18-year-old young man. His name is Ian. He was dressed in period clothes the whole swap-meet. Looks like a young Clark Kent to me. He is an "old soul". I think most of the pre-war crowd has adopted him. He was driving other folks Ts and early Chevys throughout the meet. He has 2 Ts and a Model A of his own and knows how to drive them. He also likes to vintage auto camp. He leaves soon to drive the Model Ts at Greenfield Village this summer. If we had more like him this hobby would be in good hands.
Overall, I rate the move to Duncan as a success. Plan on coming next year. As a vendor if possible. Let's try to grow this into something bigger.
(For some reason all my photos will not post on the forum. Most of them did)

I did not buy much this year. Although I did save over 25 water pumps and various shocks from being scrapped. (It must be a sickness) I did get a nice Coleman Lantern to use when we go camping. It's the nickel plated one. Dated November 1925. It will be perfect to use in our next Model T Camp and Adventures video. Here are the few treasures I got.

Thanks for sharing.
Wish I could have been there.
Good price on the wire wheels. Did they sell?

Keith, That is Ian. The 18 year old I mentioned at the start of thread. Very knowledgeable young man. I'm not sure if all the wheels sold or not. I think some of them did. There also was lots of 26-27 wire wheels and hubs sets. I know at least 2 of those sets sold. Never seen so many 26-27 sets of wheels and hubs before. It was a good event...

Keith the Pasco's, Dayton and Hayes wire wheels all sold. Some of the 26-27 wires sold, but they seemed to be everywhere. The Disteel and other disc wheels did not sell. The one set of Disteels has new rims done by John and Mark Mclaren a number of years ago.
Sales were very good.
My experience at the Duncan meet was very positive. The facility is very nice. We drove in with the trailer to unload and when it was time to leave we drove back in again. My sales were about equal on all three days. I certainly plan to go back. On Saturday there were still a few vendors coming in. It was nice to see people wondering around looking all 3 days. Food was good and very reasonable. There was a nice place to sit and eat by the food vendor, but the kids also came around taking orders and delivered food and beverages to are swap meet spaces.
The best part of the swap meet is getting to visit with people and this is probably the only time I see them during the year. There are just so many great people in this hobby. It's nice to find a few parts you need, turn a little money to cover cost, but its the people that make me want to come back and they have become to numerous to name.
We did leave Saturday around 11-11:30. It's 1500 mile trip home and got there around 6:00 Sunday evening.

All the signs for prewar faced north and south. Entering from the west I walked right past them. Next time I'll know where to go. I hope next year I'll be up for more than one day.

The inevitable often happens.
