Shift handle idea's

I'd like to fabricate a shift handle from a Model T part. I need idea's!! I don't want something to big a clumsy. Lamp part, trans part, carb part, anything.

Well, you could use a foot pedal, just the top, and really confuse people and say its the gas pedal...
Or an old rear axle roller bearing. Might be a bit more ergonomic.
Maybe an old bushing or radiator cap.

Just a few ideas :idea:
Just a 20 year old who listens to 40 year old music, works on 75 year old airplanes and drives 100 year old cars.

A hubcap. You'd need to fill the center and drill/thread it.

A model T "top prop nut" is a good size and shape. Female 7/16-14 threads.

I modified and used a solid brass 1.5 inch walking stick handle on my warford shifter.

It may not be a part from a Model T, but I couldn't resist. Just get a half dollar with a year correct to your car.

You could adapt a front outer wheel bearing. That way you don't have to worry about RSI in your wrist!

Agate would be period-correct.... or you might get a Betty Boop doll head and fill it with Bondo, then drill and tap.

Used in all my daily drivers since 1965. If you decide to use something that needs to be filled and tapped... Get a nut that fits the shift shaft & fill with Durhams Rock Hard Putty. You might press a bolt (wrapped with Teflon tape) with the nut into the putty and remove the bolt when putty hardens.
Could use Bondo too but the putty flows more easily

You are in Minn. Lookaround a flea market and find a hame with a brass know on the end and use that. If you are not familiar with the term, a hame was part of a harness used on horses.

I choose Noel's idea. I did like the walking stick handle with a Liberty dollar also, just not a T part.
