Darel Leipold, is 93
Today is my 93td birthday. I am in good health and still have my 1910 Touring I bought when I was 14 .

My father and I were invited to Darel's birthday ice cream social but, unfortunately, we couldn't make it.
Darel and my father attended Minneapolis Washburn High School. They were in the same homeroom - the "Sound Crew" - which served as both the A/V and stage crew.
Darel and my dad are standing next to each other (back row, second and third from left) in this 1949 Washburn "Wahian" yearbook page. My dad was a senior (he graduated in 1949 at age 17). Darel was a junior.
Other Washburn alumni whose names may ring a bell with forum members:
- Actor James Arness (He originally attended Washburn but wasn't happy there so he transferred to and graduated from West High School. His brother Peter Graves graduated from Southwest High School.)
- Golfer Patty Berg
- Mark Brown, bass player with Prince and the Revolution
- Actress Arlene Dahl
- Musician, composer and music producer "Jimmy Jam" Harris (original member of The Time and producer of many of Janet Jackson's albums and hits, etc.)
- Jeanne Phillips AKA Dear Abby columnist Abigail Van Buren attended Washburn her senior year (however, her twin sister apparently did not)
- Model T Ford enthusiast and author if this post, Erik Johnson
