Re: What You Get When a Model T Dream Is Embellished by Artificial Intelligence

Post by Steve Jelf » Fri Aug 15, 2025 1:14 pm

Given the embarrassingly blatant A.I. fake posts that infest Facebook on a regular basis, it's difficult to imagine that any part of this story was not written by a real live human. If any of it strains credulity, it's the idea of a Model T convoy driving down the west coast amongst the interstate traffic on U.S. 101. :)

This the actual A.I. Response to "Model T Dream"
Let the critics write a better/shorter response

Close to a year ago, maybe longer, when AI was just beginning to rear its ugly head I threw up the red flag warning on this forum. Some believed me, quite a few seemed not to or at least didn't care. It's getting worse by the week if not the day. It has been described by security experts as being close to having control over nukes. Believe what you want. But tell the parent of a young teen who committed suicide due to AI extortions that it isn't a problem and watch for their response. Just a day or two ago I did read an article from one of the founders of AI who now says its been a big mistake and will...note will...be the end of mankind. I already said that here long ago.

Pretty interesting since the Model T Club of Southern California doesn't exist any more, and hasn't for two years now. I belonged to that club for over 60 years. This looks strange to me.

I usually do not post on this Forum, but in this case cannot contain myself.
AI is nothing but filth!
AI authors dredge up factual information and mix it together with uninformed opinions and internet garbage to deliver to you FILTH.
Just like a sewage treatment plant.
In my view anything AI should be banned from this forum!!!!!!!!!!

Most people that attack personally, have zero credibility with me. I got past that in first grade.

I will let a forum moderator sort this out.

The truth is that the new folks that are getting in T’s may not know how deceptive AI can be. Times have changed and finding out what is and what isn’t takes more than a first grader would know.

I have no fear of AI. I do have some concerns about what people may elect to do with it. Look what Hitler did with the internal combustion engine, as contrasted with what Henry Ford did with it.

You may be more right than you know. About a week ago communication was lost with a friend. His phone was dead for over a couple hours and had to find alternative means. While this may seem like no big deal it turns out to be when its the military sat network. A breach or failure for minutes could be devastating much less hours. Post crash we have pondered possibilities and the 2 biggest being solar interruption or hacking both have big problems considering lack of solar activity and starlink going down at the same time for the same duration. A more likely scenario is an AI got loose and it took them time to kill it and reset. Starlink claimed it was a bad update causing their problem....

Look at the bright side at the rate the fools are developing AI it should all be over soon.

At the risk of this thread wandering a bit "too off-topic" for those who really are concerned as we should be, here's a link to an interesting story about a prominent person's warning a long time ago about AI!

I wonder if any and all AI-generated material could be coded to carry a small trademark to identify it as being AI generated or sourced. This could apply to all AI material and any AI material inserted into human-sourced material. The Alfred E. Neuman logo would be appropriate.

Whether it's AI or your favorite news source, a little dispassionate critical thinking will serve us much better at drilling down to what is real or not real.

A.I. is only the latest method of catering to the eternal human desire to be fooled. Sometimes that desire affects only a small part of the population and has little influence on society as a whole. Other times, as Lincoln observed, all of the people are ripe to be fooled. Much of the time scammers fail, but their hope springs eternal based on the few suckers taken in by a particular flim-flam. Occasionally, thanks to the human desire for suckerhood, a con artist fools his way into a position of power and bad things happen. Said con artist's followers insist that those bad things are actually good things. I could give examples to illustrate what I'm saying, but I've already gone too far in stating the obvious, and the remarks I've already made will be deeply offensive to some.

Remember that AI was developed with ‘so called’ good intentions. Remember that every one doesn’t think like we do or like some of us do. Things start to change when left to those who want to open up every thing they can. A little here and a little there and then we begin to wonder how did it happen.
