Pedals

Post by Cody Winters » Mon Sep 15, 2025 8:59 pm

The 25 fordor i'm looking at has a 25 style rear axle with a Ruckstell and the engine number is that of a 25, but it has wide 26-27 pedals. when exactly in production did they phase in the wide pedals? they aren't slip on pedal accessories, they definitely are part of the pedal stalk. and the engine displays all the characteristics of a 25. if you can't make out the number on the block it's 12372515

With the bolted trans. cover to the block indicates a late '25 & would have the wide brake drum & associated wide pedals.

You didn't mention the VIN on the title if it matched or not. Its possible that this was a replacement engine and stamped with the original engine. I does look like the engine has the pigs ears on the transmission housing bolted to the block Then there's the possibility of confusion about the production of engines in those months.

According to Bruce McCalley and the production records that serial number is on the 5th day of 1926 production.
If that is the real serial number then it probably was built with leftover parts, Henry did not worry about "correct" parts.
All 4dr bodies were made by outside suppliers (with many detail differences) and the only change was the cowl changed to match the new 26-27 hood.
During year changeovers a lot of odd ball cars were built.
Is that the original engine?
Is that the original VIN?

The engine and wide pedal transmission are the Improved version. Obviously was swapped into your ‘25 -24 model year Fordor since your T isn’t Improved model with crowned fenders and sitting on the Improved Car frame.

You may be able to date the body by features, the dash shows the butterfly for choke to carb, by mid ‘25 that setup changed to the single dash combo choke and carb adj. The butterfly was eliminated.

here is the photo of the dash, the dash choke is an earlier style dual choke and mixture set up.

Interesting: Look at the engine pan with two holes under carburetor. These were made for dual use, carb or vaporizer. I have been told “They never made those.”
I had those that came out of Ford dealership in the 50/60’s.
See yellow circle in picture.

I also have one of those two-hole pans that they never made!

The choke knob is round, and under the dash will be a rod with triangle bend end to adj. the carb setting.

Yes, seems to be a '24-'25 body, the patent plate below the dash is the rectangular style, these are used 1919 to March 1925. Sometime in March 1925 the 'clipped' or angle corner patent plate were used to end of production, July 1927
