Interesting modification on Fordor on MTFCF

Saw this & it’s pretty neat looking modification.

I'd want to put a late roadster/touring windshield on that, and add a second windshield at the front seat back with a removable soft top stretching from the remnant hard top to the second windshield. That would make a nice Town Car.

This modification looks nice but it also scares me. The B-pillar with the strikers is also supporting the seat back This pillar is bolted to a wooden sill with 4 or 6 wood screws through an iron bracket on each side. With two people in the front seat, I’m guessing the rear doors will be hard to open and close since there is no longer two roof beams resisting the upper movement of the pillar.

A brace across the seat back structure might be needed. Something like a second dashboard. The car would still lose some torsional stiffness, but as long as the doors stayed shut when driving, it wouldn't matter much. T touring cars and roadsters have very little torsional stiffness, and they do OK.

Granted, a lot of work went into this modification, but not enough thought. I would have preferred the roof be moved forward so as to cover the entire rear seat and rear floor section up to the back of the front seat, with a windshield separating the rear from the driver with just the driver and front seat exposed to the elements. The way it is now with the roof covering just the back seat, it does not provide enough protection for the rear seat passengers. The least bit of rain will soak their legs. Virtually every towncar I have ever seen has the driver and front seat uncovered with the rest of the interior protected from the elements.

It was used as a parade car and was made to the rear seat occupants could be seen and still had some protection from the Idaho sun.
