Are you in Winfield?

Post by Steve Jelf » Mon Dec 01, 2025 2:48 pm

Here I am in the old folks' home, without a T. I haven't hand-started an old car since September 7, 2023. I've been wondering if I'm now physically up to the task. Probably so, but it would be nice to give it a try and see if I can still crank-start. Does anybody on the forum have a running T near or in Winfield, KS, that I could try to start? If so, contact me through the forum, and we can pick a date and time of day.

Who is paying for rehab and your deductible if you hurt yourself? Asking for a friend.

That there is just pure love for the T...

I hope to keep cranking my '14 for years to come, but with the rebuild this year I'm adding a ringed flywheel and starter mag in case I ever need to swap out to a hogshead w/starter

Steve,
When my starter was out some time ago, you sent me a link of you hand cranking your Model T. I can still see it in my mind.
Thanks,
Vernon

If I were closer, Id find a T,pick you up and do a road trip to the Old Car Festival with you! Hopefully someone can swing this for you? Good luck with your quest to crank a T again.

No takers for Steve's request! A chance to chat with one of the major contributors to these columns by giving him the chance to swing over a T one more time. Unfortunately I'm in the U.K. and unable to help. Good luck Steve and thank you for all the information and entertainment in your blog.

UPDATE: We've got it covered. I've received a call from a T owner who lives a couple of miles from me. We'll be getting together for a bit of starting practice. :)

I think someone should bring a T to the Winter Clinic and Steve starting it there will be one of the presentations.
