5 Ball Float and Seat

Post by Rod » Thu Jan 15, 2026 2:37 pm

Since the passing of Stan and Russ does anyone have a source of valve seats and floats for the Kingston 5 Ball Carb?

The Stan Howe setup work great. The float is from a Harley Davidson.

The 1909 float and seat aren’t original. The problem is the seat is some sort of plastic ball and it hangs up.

Any source would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rod

Dan,

The float in the 2nd picture of the 1909 Unknown is OK but the seat is sticking. It has some sort of plastic ball seat. Would you happen to have a different type in stock?
Please email me.

Thanks,
Rod

Don’t know what the seat is. Grose jet????
I don’t have anything for. 5 ball.
In the olden days we put the JD float in to G carbs.

I found what looks like the sticking float needle seat.

I ordered it and hopefully it works.

I've done a few 5 ball carbs and have used a brass float from an updraft carb on a cast iron Briggs and Stratton engine that fits quite well and bored the Kingston body and machined a Rochester 4 barrel seat and sweat it into the carb body and had to shorten the needle, A new hinge assembly with a screw adjustment for setting floor height worked very well.
