Model T Coupe or?

People used a Model T for what the need was. This one is sort of a 26 DR’s PU or enclosed cab pickup? Looks like the bed was painted and well made.

Pretty cool! Lots of fabrication done back then to fit a purpose. My friend in Arkansas has his dad's original Tudor. His father was the local blacksmith, who had removed the rear body panel & seat to convert it into an open work van to haul all his equipment around.

John, My Grandfather on my Father's side of the family did exactly the same thing to his 27 coupe. He cut off the deck lid about 8 inches below the hinges, removed the back panel below the deck lid, and built a wooden box to fit in the trunk space. All this provided a lot of extra work and expense when my Father and I did the first restoration on the car back in the late 1960's. Since then, I did another re-restoration to correct things that my Father and I either did incorrectly or didn't have the proper parts for and made do with what we had. I wish I had taken pictures of it when we first restored it. it had been stored in a barn on my Father's farm, and was honestly and truly, "a barn find". All during the 1940's, my Grandfather had a garden and grew vegetables for his own consumption and would load all of his excess produce in the back and drive from the farm, into the nearest town, 3 miles away.

I read here, That during the rationing days of WW2, a truck would get more gas rations. So many T's were converted.
Of course, the utility of a cheap truck was handy.

The boys over at Chevrolet took that idea and made it into an accessory slide in pickup box starting in the mid 1930s available at the dealership.
It would turn a regular coupe into a coupe pickup. The Australians saw it, and eventually they introduced a model called a utility coupe, or "Ute". At one time mid 30s Chevy coupes were somewhat common in Australia. These metal boxes were available in the states, also.

Very good Mike! Lot of manufacturers made coupe/pickups in the 1930's and 1940's

In the 1960’s our pickup was a 1947 Chevy Fleetline with the trunk lid removed and a box sticking out the back. That Fleetline hauled home tons of Model T parts home. You can’t imagine how much Dad could pile onto that thing. I remember two engines in the box, back seat full of lights and a frame strapped on the top.
