Steering revision 1927 T Runabout Pickup

I am dooing a revision on my steering gear and bussy I came across some questions
I have a 1927 T runabout Pickup
I bought some parts bij ModelTparts
does any body know why I get 3 new gears and 4 pins
in my car where installed 3 short pins and now I have it all open I can see that the top pin should be the long one.
but why than I get 3 shorts and 1 long pin, what is correct en why there is a choche?

I have also a bushing for the below part, but that doens fit also, are there different mesurements...
as far I can see this car is very origional.

Depending on which steering column an owner may have, there is/isn't a machined arc or groove, in the steering box which the LONG pin fits to keep the steering from going "over center". If there is a machined groove then press the long pin into one of the 3 holes just deep enough to engage the groove and still clear the underside of the cover. You then discard one of the 3 short pins and place the two remaining short pins in your column. Your steering column should have this groove. Earlier columns will not have this groove and will use all 3 shorter pins and discard the long pin.

I make the bushing myself so do not know why one is longer than original. If OD and ID are OK and extra length does not block the grease hole, you're good to go. By the way, there should be a groove in the top ID of the bracket to receive a felt washer to keep grease from coming out. Not absolutely certain on your year, but earlier cars do.

regarding the pins it is my totaly clear
I have the groove so need 1 long and 2 short

regarding the Bracket bushing
the inner size is correct, its longer but not blocking the greas canal, but the outer size is nog wide enough.
so it doesn,t fit.
if you make them by yourself, do you know what measure you take for this?

The bushing for the steering bracket is 1.0" (25.4mm) outside diameter.

The inside bore is approx. 0.754" (18.1mm) but that bore is then reamed to fit the steering shaft, that is approx. .750" when new, but the steering shaft will be worn at the bearing if you use the old shaft.

So the new bushing is reamed to make a smooth fit for the shaft.

If the bore of your steering bracket is larger than 25.4mm, then someone has machined it or the bore was worn oversize somehow.

You are correct, my mistake, I gave you measures for '09-'25! Sorry!

I forgot to remember in answering that your's is a '26-'27!

Your '26-'27 bracket should have casting numbers T-932-C on the long side of the body. That is the factory number for p/n 3539D "Steering Gear Bracket assembly" 'Roadster, Touring, Coupe, and Tudor.' The Fordor is different for '26-27 and has casting number T-933.

The opening of the '26-'27 bracket is 7/8", smaller than the '25 and earlier.


Steering Bracket Bushing '26-'27 is p/n 3545B and measures 7/8" outside diameter, and has 3/4" (.750 bore) and is 1 1/4" long.

My photos and measure in my prior post are for the '25 and earlier steering bracket.

Thanks i have that bracket you ment t932c
My inner size is a bit wider standard=7/8=22,22mm
And mine is 22,70mm
Maybe It is bored out ...
I had to make a new one I think..
