U&J Carb adjustment initial setting

Post by Bruce Compton » Tue Apr 14, 2020 2:53 pm

I have four rebuilt U&J carbs to test run and am looking for advice on the initial adjustment setting. I've heard everything from 3/4 turns to 3 full turns. Can anyone who has run these carbs narrow down these numbers? Thanks : Bruce

Bruce, I have copies of the U&J installation, adjustment and starting instructions. The adjustment instruction says the screw at the bottom of the carb should be opened three-quarters of a turn. Instructions also recommend to "set the throttle one-third open, the dash control rod three quarters up and turn on the switch. Hold the air choke tight past two compressions as the motor is turned over, then release choke on the third compression stroke the motor should start." Hope this helps.
