1919-1920 rear seat support
This is the support I have in my 1920 touring to hold the seat up.
Here is the lack of support in a friends 1919 touring.
Was there a change? Different manufacturer of body? Why does the 1920 have a support and the 1919 does not?

Looking really close at the bottom photograph you can just see the 2 holes ( I think) that are in line with each other on the left side of the the seat frame. That is where the seat support may have been. My own 21 Touring has a Berdette body and the support was missing so I put a piece of plywood in it to replace the missing metal support where the screw holes were.
It does look like the car has some new wood replaced sometime back in the past and the bottom of the seat frame was either left out or wasn’t replaced going by the photograph.
Not sure if Ford would have left out the seat bottom in the 17- 22 Touring cars. Maybe someone else knows for sure.

Huh... my 1917 has a nice metal lid with a neat metal storage compartment underneath. I guess Henry got cheaper as years went on.

As a general rule, plywood is used for flat panel work. A piece of plywood of the same dimensions as a piece of sawn timber, will be way more flexible and offer far less support under a seat. A solid sheet of plywood fixed to the under side of the seat cushion would be preferable.

It would be nice if more people will let us know, pictures if possible, what you have under your rear seat to support the seat itself.
