Rounding out a full week of Model Ting today was our sort of annual "To Bone and Back" jaunt. We did it in memory of Lynn Erickson and some we have lost in the last few years who enjoyed it. 32 members braved the 24 miles of rolling hills. It was all gravel in the '60s when we ventured there in our youth in old cars. Later we raced Model T and A speedsters over those and other roads in the vicinity.
Bone got a brief moment of fame in 1982 when NBC aired the telephone coming for each of it's 23 residents. There are now 2 or 3 year round residents. There was a store and post office (1917-1950) and eventually a grille and a bar opened. We have to check with them each year to see if anyone is operating it.
Our '09 T ran like a dream and only lost a quart of water getting there. We started early so as not to hold up the later cars climbing the hills.
4 Model As arrived as well as a '34 Chevy and some later iron.
I was pleased to see Rick and his 1940 Indian 74" make the trip.

I can't imagine more fun to top the Summer off. Perhaps some late fall trips and Autumn Color drives before Winter.
